Description
World-renowned Holocaust historian and former Northwestern University professor Peter Hayes brings a wealth of research and experience to bear on conventional, popular views of the Holocaust, challenging some of the most prominent recent interpretations. Hayes is the author or editor of twelve books, including the prize-winning titles, “Industry and Ideology: IG Farben in the Nazi Era” and “Lessons and Legacies: The Meaning of the Holocaust in a Changing World.” He has served on the academic advisory boards of numerous professional organizations and is now the chair of the Academic Committee of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council. Hayes has held fellowships from the German Academic Exchange Service, the Social Science Research Council, and the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation, and in 1997-98, he was the J.B. and Maurice C. Shapiro Senior Scholar in Residence at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.
