Description
The Legalization of Recreational Marijuana & its Implications for Employers
Beginning January 1, 2020, the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act will allow adults (21+) to possess and consume cannabis. The Act has considerable employment pitfalls for employers. As a consequence, drug testing without any evidence of impairment in the workplace will open the door for legal challenges. This timely presentation by Julie Proscia, Labor and Employment Attorney with SmithAmundsen LLC, will go over the legal risks for llinois Employers and what can be done to try and diminish the impact of recreational marijuana.
Topics will include:
• Adopting and enforcing drug free workplace policies • Drug testing practices and options forward • Best practices to protect your workplace • Preview of a future seminar on Sexual Harassment • And more!
