Jun 2 - Jun 3    Two Brothers Summer Festival
The Best Beer. The Best Bands. The Best Cause. Two Brothers Summer Festival is an annual craft beer and music festival hosted by Two Brothers Brewing Company with the ultimate goal of raising money for local charities. Entering its ninth year, Two Brothers Summer Festival 2017 is sure to offer a great experience for those passionate about great beer, great food and great music. This year’s festival will feature its biggest music and beer lineup yet, including the annual release of Two Brothers Hop Centric Double IPA, among others. A full list of bands, beer and food will be available in the near future. Proceeds from Two Brothers Summer Festival 2017 will benefit local charities, Make-A-Wish Illinois and Giant Steps. FRIDAY, JUNE 2 Gates open at 5 p.m. Savoir Adore 5:30 p.m. “Savoir Adore” is French for “to know love” – a lofty moniker, but an idea that’s always been at the heart of the band’s romantic, imaginative pop music. Led by Paul Hammer, the ever-evolving Brooklyn based project continues its journey through magical dream worlds and vivid musical landscapes. After two years of writing and recording, the band will return with their latest collection of songs, The Love That Remains, later this year. And with it, we find the band at its most mature, honest, and ambitious. “When we were in Brazil in 2014, I learned the phrase Saudades, which describes a deep longing for someone or something as an almost physical entity. The idea of love as a supernatural, physical thing was a very interesting and inspiring idea to me. From there the album became about rediscovering love, in every way, finding it again in the world, with someone else, and with yourself. Whereas our last record was the story of two, I found it fitting and necessary to write this from a very personal, singular perspective.” And at the end of the day it’s about a lot more than that too – Love, loss, and the often inescapable darkness of memories. It also takes off from where Our Nature, the band’s critically acclaimed second album, left off. “Lovers Wake,” the album’s first single and lead off track is the story of someone trying to escape a dream and an addiction to suffering through a fantasy that doesn’t exist. Savoir Adore is not a new band. But in many ways, this is a new beginning. Savoir Adore’s story has been building for a long time, but in many ways, their magical journey has just begun. The Love That Remains is the first part of a new chapter in the band, a chapter that finds the band more focused, experimental and ambitious than ever. Blind Pilot 7 p.m. “The past isn’t finished with us yet. Love can be like that, too. A couple of years ago I found love in different forms leaving my life at once. In a single month I lost my closest group of friends, my 13-year relationship ended, and my dad was diagnosed with cancer. I had just stopped touring to write the next Blind Pilot album, but instead I was watching each of my plans unthread as a new season pulled forward relentlessly. “Avoiding suffering, is avoiding real happiness too. My reason to tell this story isn’t because it broke me and pinned me breathless. There was suffering, but those two years, as I moved to my hometown to help my parents through my dad’s sickness and eventually his death, also brought me true closeness, a deeper will to care and hope, and many moments of beauty I can barely describe. “This album came from love for my family, my town, my friends, my community. We don’t have to be so afraid of loss. We can speak and share its name, knowing we are together in it. If these songs are invitations to talk about loss and death, the invitation is to talk closely of the courage we find when we face loss honestly, cracked open and unsure of what we will become.” – Blind Pilot’s Israel Nebeker Blind Pilot’s ‘And Then Like Lions’ on ATO Records is the third LP from the Portland, Oregon-based sextet consisting of frontman Israel Nebeker, fellow founding member Ryan Dobrowski, Luke Ydstie, Kati Claborn, Ian Krist and Dave Jorgensen. The album was produced by Israel Nebeker and Tucker Martine (The Decemberists, Neko Case, My Morning Jacket), and was written and composed by Nebeker. It comes five years after the band’s well-received ‘We Are the Tide’ and three years after Nebeker thought he’d be starting the songs that would become the band’s third album. Blind Pilot has performed on Ellen and The Late Show with David Letterman, at the Newport Folk Festival, Bonnaroo, and Lollapalooza. The group has shared stages with The Shins, Local Natives, Andrew Bird, and more. The project began in 2007 when Israel and co-founding member Ryan Dobrowski went on a West Coast tour via bicycle. Blind Pilot’s six members recorded for this new album and will tour through 2016. Saint Motel 9 p.m. The year before making their breakthrough with a mainstage performance at Coachella and the chart topping single “My Type,” Saint Motel had planned to host an event of their own called “saintmotelevision” — a multimedia spectacular of music, dance, comedy, art, and more that was shut down by authorities before it even took place. “That crazy mixture of worlds and ideas is something we’ve always gravitated toward,” says front man A/J Jackson in reflecting on the original saintmotelevision. “We’ve always been fans of strange combinations, and that glorious yet doomed event became a symbol of all that.” So when it came time to create their forthcoming full-length debut for Elektra, the band reclaimed the name saintmotelevision and, in the end, dreamed up an album as magnificently kaleidoscopic as that mythic party itself. Featuring production from the likes of Lars Stalfors (Cold War Kids) and Tim Pagnotta (Walk The Moon) — as well as from Jackson, in and around the band’s own studio in downtown L.A. — saintmotelevision builds off 2014’s My Type EP with a sound even more expansive and artfully genre-blurring. And with its effervescent melodies and shapeshifting grooves, the album emerges as a beautifully alchemized piece of alt-pop, every bit the “channel-surfing odyssey” its namesake was meant to be. Lead single “Move” serves as saintmotelevision’s opening track, a psych-rock-tinged dancefloor anthem with a chorus so catchy that — during Saint Motel’s raucous sets at summer festivals like Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo — audience members instantly shouted along despite never having heard the song before. In the lyric video for “Move,” Saint Motel have also unveiled their latest undertaking as a decidedly visually-oriented group: the so-called “virtualizer,” which combines 360° animation and virtual reality technology that allows each viewer a chance to experience the music in a fully immersive manner. Passion for eclecticism has always been at the heart of Saint Motel, a band founded by Jackson and guitarist Aaron Sharp: film-school classmates whose longtime friendship had its roots in a shared appreciation of obscurist cinema and mutually adventurous musical tastes that include everything from Imperial Teen to Beethoven’s 7th Symphony, 2nd Movement. After bringing bass player Dak Lerdamornpong and drummer Greg Erwin into the fold, the band released their debut EP ForPlay in 2009 and began hosting a series of “experiential concerts” with such themes as Zombie Prom and Judgment Day. “We played in half-pipes, semi-trucks, circuses — pretty much anywhere we could,” says Jackson. “We just wanted to do what we could to push ourselves beyond our comfort zone, and give people some kind of big, crazy experience whenever they came to see us.” Thanks in part to those one-of-a-kind live shows — and to their critically acclaimed, independently released 2012 full-length debut Voyeur — Saint Motel steadily built up a devoted underground following throughout their early years. Releasing the My Type EP in summer 2014, the band saw their fan base grow exponentially as the title track became a top 10 alternative radio smash, with both the song and its companion video (directed by Jackson himself) each collecting streaming figures in the tens of millions, and counting. SATURDAY, JUNE 3 Gates open at 3 p.m. Opening Act: 4 p.m. The Way Down Wanderers 5:15 p.m. Knox Hamilton 7 p.m. Fueled by the similar staples within their collective musical taste, the members of Knox Hamilton blend laid back guitar riffs and catchy bass lines with rhythmic drum beats and soaring vocals to produce a sound that’s as likely to make you want to visit the beach as it is to move your feet. The Great Hall EP is a culmination of the bands eclectic musical sensibilities, as individuals, and their combined infatuation with indie pop rock, as a band. The EP could easily be trimmed to simple, commercial-length soundbites, but it could also accompany you on a cross-country road trip. X Ambassadors 9 p.m. X Ambassadors released their debut full length album VHS (KIDinaKORNER/Interscope) in June 2015, where it debuted at #7 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and has since been certified gold by the RIAA. The set was produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Alex Da Kid and features the platinum selling, #1 Alternative radio song “Renegades.” New single “Unsteady” is currently climbing the charts and was recently certified platinum as well. X Ambassadors and Tom Morello teamed up for the song “Collider” which appears on VHS 2.0, the deluxe edition of VHS released this summer. “Collider” was ESPN and ABC’s 2016 Road to the College Football Playoff Theme Song.

Jun 10    Piano Men
Do you remember when rock was young? We do, so we’re dedicating a full day of shows to celebrate two of the greatest pianists and performers of our time. Musicians Craig A. They’ll hammer those keys and play all those classic pop favorites like “Crocodile Rock,” “Uptown Girl,” “Candle In The Wind” and so many more. Plus, with how much these guys look, sound and dress like Elton and Billy, you’ll hardly be able to tell the difference between the men on stage and the superstars they’re portraying. Two pianos, one unforgettable show. Don’t miss it.

Give yourself a couple of free hours and your kids some paddling adventure with our Youth Paddlesports Camp Aurora. The Youth Paddlesports Camp Aurora is designed for kids 6-17. However, this age requirement is dependent upon being able to listen and follow direction. Some 12 year olds don’t listen as well as 7 year olds for example. We do reserve the right to remove any participant from the water that will not follow instructions as this poses a potential safety issue to the other participants as well as detracts from their experience. This 4 day camp will take place 10 AM – 12 PM each day at Jericho Lake. Kayaking and Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) concepts will be taught, providing participants the skills and confidence to safely and comfortably maneuver on the water. Forward, reverse, and sweep strokes will be introduced along with basic safety and rescue procedures. And on Day Four, Mom or Dad are invited to come out and paddle with the kids. A breakdown of the days activities are: Day 1: Introduction to kayaking basics using land and water instruction. Day 2: Introduction to SUP basics using land and water instruction Day 3: Kayaking for fun, using land and water games to reinforce the principles taught on day one, and provide your child an opportunity to practice what has been taught. Day 4: SUP for fun, using land and water games to reinforce the principles taught on day two, and provide your child an opportunity to practice what has been taught. There is a maximum class size of 8 kids for each of our Paddlesports Camps, with a minimum of four required. There will be two instructors on hand to teach and monitor so we maintain a 4:1 ratio. The price for this experience is $115 and includes all equipment, including life jacket, rental for one of the parents on the last day of camp, and a Rocktown Adventures Paddlesport Camp T-Shirt. The only pre-requisites are the ability to swim and desire to have a good time! To sign up for this experience please give the store a call at 630-506-5706 or sign up below.

Jun 16 - Jun 17    Blues on the Fox
There was no way to know the ground-breaking impact musicians John Lee “Sonny Boy” Williamson, Tampa Red, Big Bill Broonzy and others would have when they sat down to record their incredible sound at the Leland Hotel in downtown Aurora in the 1930s. As soon as those guitar strings were plucked and their soulful voices filled the air, everything we knew about blues was changed forever, and Blues on the Fox celebrates that monumental piece of history. For 21 years, blues musicians from across the world have gathered in Aurora to play their hearts out to blues-loving crowds in the thousands, and this year’s lineup is sure to get your head swaying and feet grooving. FRIDAY, JUNE 16 Gates open 6 p.m. Tickets per day: $10 through May 31; $20 starting June 1 Shemekia Copeland: 7 p.m. “She roars with a sizzling hot intensity,” raves The Boston Globe. She has a “gale force singing and power” writes the Chicago Tribune. NPR says she’s “fiercely expressive.” She’s Shemekia Copeland, a musical force to be reckoned with. Growing up with her bluesman father, Johnny Clyde Copeland, Shemekia always knew she wanted to sing, but it wasn’t until she was 16 when she began opening for her father that her explosive voice began blowing audiences away. Since then, she’s been nominated for 3 Grammys and has been a mainstay on the blues circuit. She’s sung with legends like B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and opened for The Rolling Stones. Even if she quit music today, Shemekia would leave behind a remarkable résumé. But she’s not. She’s just getting warmed up and has her sights set on a trailblazing future. Mavis Staples: 9 p.m. Talk about a living legend. Mavis Staples has seen and done it all, but that doesn’t mean she’s ready to hang up the microphone. Not even close. Grammy Award-winner Mavis Staples – yes, the one who turned down a marriage proposal from Bob Dylan – was born right here in Chicago and began singing with her family at local churches in 1950 when she was just a little girl. Now, 67 years later, Mavis is still belting out those eye-watering, jaw-dropping gospel and blues notes that made her a star enormously respected by her peers: Ice Cube and Ludacris have sampled her vocals, and she recently sang with Arcade Fire. When you think about the best freedom songs of the 20th century, Mavis is right there near the top of the list with “Down in Mississippi” and “I’ll Take You There.” And with a recent Presidential Medal of Freedom and Kennedy Center Honors, she is hotter than ever. SATURDAY, JUNE 17 Gates open 2 p.m. Tickets per day: $10 through May 31; $20 starting June 1 Guy King Band: 3 p.m. If you’re looking for that classic jazz sound of yesteryear fused with a fresh spin that’s all his own, look no further than Guy King. Guy first came to the U.S. from Israel on tour at the age of 16 before later heading to Chicago and joining the band of legendary Willie Kent. In 2006, Guy began his own incredible solo career performing at House of Blues, Buddy Guy’s Legends and more. Guy’s own mind-blowing brand of blues, jazz, soul and R&B makes his amazing performances stand miles above the rest. His passion for music is so great that when growing up in a small village in Israel, he had to travel for hours to get to a record store in Tel Aviv. When they didn’t have the Albert King record he wanted, he placed an order for it and had to do the whole trip again a month later. While those days are over, Guy’s love for music and jazz has only grown, cementing him as a world-class musician that needs to be seen to be believed. Devon Allman: 5 p.m. He might share the same last name as his famous dad and uncle, but Devon Allman is his own musician – and an amazing one at that. Devon first picked up the guitar when he was a teenager and hasn’t put it down since. Instead of his name, Devon used his voice and incredible songwriting skills to break into the business, and what started as playing in local bands and working in a Guitar Center has skyrocketed into a critically-acclaimed career-hailed as “powerful” and “soulful.” With his own band behind him, Devon uses his custom blend of blues and rock to deliver a show that will leave you electrified and excited for what this son of musical royalty will do next. While you might hear echoes of his dad, Allman delivers a thoroughly unique sound that is all his own. Elvin Bishop: 7 p.m. Having been inducted into not only the Blues Hall of Fame, but the Rock and Roll of Fame, Grammy nominee Elvin Bishop knows a little something about music, and he’s going to give a lesson impossible to forget. It’s all right here: “Fooled Around and Fell in Love,” “Let It Flow” and so much more. This is the man who sat in with the Grateful Dead, co-billed a series of concerts with The Allman Brothers Band and had one of his songs featured on the smash soundtrack to “Guardians of the Galaxy,” proving that his music has a timeless quality that attracts new and old listeners alike. Elvin’s musical career began in 1963 when he met Paul Butterfield and joined his blues band. For five years, they played together until he left to form The Elvin Bishop Group. Over the years, he’s released more than 20 incredible albums. His last studio album “Can’t Even Do Wrong Right” dropped in 2014. Watching Elvin play is like getting your own private lesson in what it takes to be an outstanding musician, and this is one class you won’t want to skip. Jonny Lang: 9 p.m. Jonny was only 12-years-old when he first picked up a guitar. He must have felt a spark when he touched it, because what he’s produced since is nothing short of stunning. All you need to do is look at his five albums that have charted on the Billboard 200 and his two Grammy nominations, including a win for his 2007 album Turn Around. Jonny shreds with his brand of blues, gospel, pop, R&B and rock, then he uses his smooth, soulful voice to tug at your heart, soul and mind. If you’ve never heard Jonny play, you’re missing out on one of the most unique talents of his generation. He’s a performer living up to the legends who inspired him and making his own mark on musical history.

Jun 24    Dark Star Orchestra
They’re not just a Grateful Dead tribute band; they’re the Grateful Dead tribute band. Formed right here in Chicago, Dark Star Orchestra has been faithfully performing the jam band’s most loved songs and little known gems for 20 years, and from time to time, Dead members Phil Lesh and Bob Weir have even joined them on stage. As if sounding like the Grateful Dead wasn’t enough, DSO even goes so far as to recreate the Dead’s original set lists in some instances, and other times, they create their own from the Dead’s massive catalog of songs. If you were born too late to experience the Grateful Dead in their prime or want to relive that long, strange trip, Dark Star Orchestra will bring back many incredible memories and create plenty of new ones.
