Altered Gaze is a monthly gathering of local artists and art enthusiasts meeting to appreciate and explore the displayed work of this creative community. The new Bar Absinthe at America?s Historic Roundhouse sets the scene for engaging conversation and cultural exchange.
This month Altered Gaze will feature the abstract paintings of Cheryl Holz. Cheryl Holz has mastered a delicate balance between the material world of organic life and the ethereal realm of thought and idea. These abstract paintings have sensuous surfaces that offer meanings that satisfy intellectually as well as aesthetically. While socio-environmental messages inspire these works, the utter beauty of Holz's lush colors, tactile layers and harmonious materials seem to eclipse any type of didacticism or strident call to action.
