Arts and Ideas: Martin E. Marty
(Arts and Culture)
A Lutheran minister and religion scholar, Marty is one of the most prominent interpreters of religion and culture today. He is the author of more than 60 books, a columnist, pastor and teacher, having been a professor of religious history for 35 years at the University of Chicago Divinity School.He continues to be connected to UChicago through the Martin Marty Center, an arm of the Divinity School created to advance "public religion" endeavors, which was named upon his retirement.
