Description
Wine, nibbles, shopping, chamber member discounts, now that's a Friday night!
Join us for another great evening for an after Hours event tonight, Friday, November 16 at the Pierce Art and History Center 20 E. Downer (on Downer and Stolp), from 5:00-6:30pm.
The Aurora Historical Society is hosting a wine and nibbles event for Chamber members. First floor exhibit is "Flavors of Aurora: Stirred, Not... Shaken - World" which highlights Aurora's most recent arrivals, refugees from South Asia and Africa. The second floor exhibit is "Aurora Story", the full 175-history of Aurora told through our collection. The Aurora Public Art Commission is simultaneously presenting "Holiday Lights", so there will be in the building a trunk show by 17 artists, photo ops with Santa starting about 6:30pm, musical entertainment and light refreshments. Their current exhibit is "Suenos y Espejos: Dreams and Mirrors - Latin American Artists".
Chamber members will be entitled to a 10% discount on AHS merchandise* in the gift shop for this event. (*Does not include Public Art merchandise.) We will have some type of ID for them so they can shop at their leisure during the evening, which ends at 8:00pm. Our gift shop is the ONLY place in town to find Aurora-themed merchandise such as calendars, books, posters, postcards, t-shirts mugs, magnets, throws, holiday ornaments and more. This is a good opportunity to be really efficient: visit the AHS during the 175th anniversary and get going on some of that holiday shopping! :-)
After shopping, nibbling, and networking, the official tree lighting ceremony for Aurora will be taking place the same evening -- at 6:00pm at North Island Center, 8 E. Galena Blvd. Mayor Weisner, Miss Merry Christmas and Jack Frost will preside.
