Description
This presentation uses historical documentation, photos and other media to reveal how Chicago led the nation in urban food production during WWII and how we are poised to do it again with the home grown food revolution of this new generation. Presenter LaManda Joy is an award-winning Master Gardener, author of the popular urban gardening blog, “The Yarden,” and founder of The Peterson Garden Project in Chicago. You’ll also visit Naper Settlement’s Victory Garden. Presentation is free with admission. In addition, a guided rain garden walk will be offered at 2 p.m. to look at the various gardens, the types of plants used and what is needed for fall maintenance.
Under 4 years, Naperville Heritage Society Sustaining Members are free.
