Description
A job description can range from a few cryptic lines in an email to a 10-page wish list on steroids. How do you decipher the information in job postings so you can truly understand what the company wants? Once you can, you will be able to create the effective selling points about your strengths and skills that are key to focusing your resume, writing a strong cover letter and preparing interview notes that are vital to getting that job. In this session, you will learn techniques to help you quickly identify the key strengths that are truly important to the hiring organization, information that is very often buried in the paragraphs, bullet points and “corporate speak” of job descriptions. Once you can do this, you can write a targeted value statement, cover letter and interview talking points that clearly and directly address the needs of the hiring manager. Presenter: Keith Owens, Career Strategist. Free to members of the Center; $15 for non-members. RSVP: www.communitycareercenter.org
