Description
Join State Representative Stephanie Kifowit for an information session on C.P.T.E.D (Crime Prevention through Environmental Design) and C.O.P. (Community Oriented PolicingInternet) on Thursday, October 16, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Aurora Public Library's Eola Branch (555 S. Eola Road). The presenter is Officer Townsend of the Aurora Police Department.
Altering the physical design of the communities in which people reside and congregate in order to deter criminal activity is the main goal of C.P.T.E.D. It's principles of design affect elements of the built enviroment ranging from the small-scale (such as the strategic use of shrubbery and other vegetation) to the overarching, including building form on an entire urban neighborhood and the amount of opportunity of "eyes on the street."
