Description
The Fox Valley Festival Chorus is a not-for-profit organization which has provided musical entertainment in the Fox Valley area since 1955. In addition to two annual concerts, the Chorus performs at a number of different venues such as music festivals, chamber of commerce events, community functions, Kane County Cougar games, holiday shows, Christmas parties, shopping malls, historical venues, churches, and retirement/ nursing homes.
United by their love of vocal choral music, members range in age from high school students to retirees and come from all areas of Kane, Kendall and Du Page County, but all are welcome to join.
Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings from 7:30 ? 9:30 pm at St. Mark?s Lutheran Church at the corner of Galena and Edgelawn in Aurora, IL.
Rehearsals for the winter-spring season begin Monday, February 7, 2010. Potential new members are invited to attend September rehearsals to meet choir members and the director. All singers are welcome to join. No auditions are required.
Although rehearsals are held at St. Mark?s Lutheran Church in Aurora, the Chorus has no religious affiliation.
The Fox Valley Festival Chorus is under the direction of Mary Beth McCarthy of Naperville who is a graduate of Northwestern University and a talented vocalist, director and conductor who has performed with the Lincoln Opera Company of Chicago. She is currently the Director of the Instrumental Music Program at the Illinois Math and Science Academy in Aurora, Illinois.
Bonnie Werthmann, Accompanist, has been playing the piano since she was two years old. She performed at Orchestra Hall at the age of nine years. Currently she is teaching private piano students and doing free-lance accompanying for groups and individual soloists, as well as being the choir director at Our Lady of Good Council Church in Aurora.
