Description
"From Soldier to Supervisor: Human Resources' Role" is a free educational program open to the public being put on by Aurora University's Dunham School of Business and Gallagher Benefit Services of Naperville.
Registration, networking and refreshments are from 7:30 to 8 a.m. Free parking is available.
The scheduled speaker is Sabrina Baker, human resources consultant and social recruiter with Acacia HR Solutions in Chicago.
Baker will discuss HR’s role in helping veterans transition from soldier to supervisor or other appropriate roles.
"Veteran job candidates bring highly sought-after skills to workplaces," Baker said. "As more and more enter the candidate pool, the need for human resources professionals to effectively assess those skills and find an appropriate fit is increasingly important."
According to Baker, more than 1 million military personnel are expected to transition to civilian life in the next few years.
Baker is a member of the SHRM Illinois state council board of directors and chairs the group’s annual conference. She is a frequent speaker on recruiting and job-search topics.
