The Growing Place Garden Center Celebrates Growing Reward Members

The Growing Place Garden Center is showing appreciation to their Growing Rewards members by hosting a "Beer & BBQ" afternoon. The celebration, featuring food, refreshments, games, and live music, will be held at the Aurora location on August 23, 2014, noon to 5pm.

The Growing Place has been in Naperville since 1936, focusing on growing quality plants from the start. They grew from a single location where customers could pick their plants from the ground into two full service garden centers. In 1989, the Aurora location was opened as a retail garden center as well as a production greenhouse where they grow almost 100% of their herbs, vegetables and mums, and a many of the perennials and annuals they sell. 

"We know our success is because of the wonderful people that shop here. This celebration is our way of saying thank you to Growing Rewards members and to all of our customers," says The Growing Place co-owner Carol Massat. "Members of the program accumulate points with each purchase to earn rewards towards future purchases. They also receive weekly emails packed with gardening information and member-only discounts. If you're not already a Growing Rewards member you can join on the spot and enjoy the celebration!" says Massat.

Emmett's Brewing Company will be offering beer tasting from noon-3pm. Emmett's is a local brewery with locations in Downers Grove, West Dundee and Palatine, IL. They use only traditional ingredients like water, malt, hops and yeast and import their ingredients directly from the country of origin, according to the style of beer. Event-goers will also be treated to tasty BBQ, sales specials, raffles and games for children and adults. From 2-5pm, Rockin' Johnny Burgin will be playing the blues. Rockin' Johnny is one of the busiest blues guitarists in Chicago and has played with many blues greats since the early 90s.
