Description
Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) are the number one barrier inhibiting a job seeker's resume from getting into the hands of a hiring manager. These sophisticated software programs account for more than half of all "rejected" job applications from qualified candidates due to poor formatting, lack of keywords, and not understanding how to answer stock questions correctly.Matt Weis, Director of Workforce Development for MicroTrain Technologies, will host this informative seminar where attendees will learn:
• What makes Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) tick
• What they look for when screening candidates
• How job seekers can navigate them successfully
• How to get your resume seen by a human
Who will benefit?
• Any job candidate who has to submit a job application online!
Matt Weis has been overseeing workforce programs for the past decade, during which he has created and led large scale projects that have directly assisted with the re-employment of over 30,000 Illinoisans. Matt has managed employment contracts with the Chicago Housing Authority, City of Chicago and the Illinois Department of Human Services, to name a few. In 2009-2010, he helped to conceive and manage the largest re-employment program in the nation, Put Illinois to Work, which assisted 27,000 Illinois residents with obtaining temporary employment and income during the height of the recession.
In his current role as the Director of Workforce Development at MicroTrain Technologies, he oversees four Workforce Investment Act contracts through Cook County, including the IT Sector Center, Chicago TechWorks. Matt frequently meets with job seekers across the region to talk about navigating the job market, training, job search strategies, applicant tracking systems, and social media utilization. Matt also currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Chicago Jobs Council and on the Junior Board for Heartland Alliance for Human Needs and Human Rights.
