Description
The Courage to Change:
Strong Municipalities in a Difficult Economy
For those who believe in keeping decision-making local, the Illinois Municipal League is Illinois' statewide community-focused lobbying and educational organization "whose special interest is the people" so municipalities can have a powerful resource and voice in Springfield. The IML has placed a focus on Personnel and Pensions, Revenue and Finance, Economic Development, Municipal Authority, Transparency, and Transportation.
Join us on March 11 to hear from Joe McCoy, senior legislative advocate for the IML, about some of the 24 legislative proposals on the IML agenda to protect municipal budgets, streamline operations, and improve the ability of municipalities to provide necessary services to their citizens.
Joe McCoy is the Senior Legislative Advocate with the Illinois Municipal League. Joe’s primary policy areas with the League include personnel, pension, labor, and insurance issues. Prior to joining the Municipal League in 1999, Joe worked at the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs as a legislative aide and policy analyst. Before joining DCCA, Joe served as an assistant to the deputy chief of staff within the administration of Governor Jim Edgar. Joe received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Western Illinois University and his Master’s Degree in Public Policy from Regent University.
