Description
Presented by Kerstin Bettermann, Associate Professor of Neurology at Penn State College of Medicine, and featuring Bob Milne, pianist. Professional piano player Bob Milne, father of AU professor Carrie Milne-Zelman, is an extraordinary musician—despite having never really practiced. Using his natural ability to hear and play music, he performs multiple complex rhythms simultaneously while carrying on conversations and lecturing to his audience on the historical aspects of ragtime music (as you will experience). How is he able to do this? Dr. Kerstin Bettermann will explore this question and address what the neuroscience of music throughout the last centuries can teach us about how the brain works.
