Description
The Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce/Not-For-Profit Alliance is proud to present another topic in its series for 2011.
Join Julie Procia, Smith Amundsen, LLC as she shares and discusses Legal Issues in Managing Volunteers.
Volunteers are a critical part of most if not all NFP organizations. NFP volunteer workforces help run events, sponsor activities and assist in the administration of the programs. While NFP volunteers are invaluable they also pose legal challenges that can make them a liability to an organization. This presentation will discuss the legal issues NFP’s must be aware of when working with volunteers:
- Are Volunteers protected by Federal and State Harassment Laws?
- Does our organization owe a duty of care to volunteers, and how do we meet this duty?
- Which actions of our volunteers might our organization be liable (legally responsible) for?
- Our volunteers are working with vulnerable clients – what background checks should be done?
- If we are forced to release a volunteer, are there circumstances where we can be sued for unfair dismissal?
- What is the Wage and hour Liability for the Employee turned volunteer?
Don't miss this every important semiar and useful informaton for ANY Not-For-Profit organization.
