Description
Guitar legend Phil Keaggy will be the inaugural performer in a concert series to raise funds in support of Rebuilding Together Aurora. The concert will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the East Aurora High School Auditorium in Aurora, IL. Keaggy is an acoustic and electric guitarist and vocalist who has released more than 50 albums and contributed to many more recordings in both the contemporary Christian music and mainstream markets. He is a seven-time recipient of the GMA Dove Award for Instrumental Album of the Year, and was twice nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Gospel Album. He has frequently been listed as one of the world's top-3 "fingerstyle" as well as "fingerpicking" guitarists by Guitar Player Magazine readers' polls, including Gold Level Award Winner for Best Spiritual/Worship Guitarist. Musician Magazine labeled him one of the most significant players of the past century and he's also won the Nashville Music Award for guitarist of the year. Rebuilding Together Aurora is a non-profit organization that provides free home repair services for senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, and low-income families residing in owner-occupied homes in Aurora. Each year they provide large-scale repair services for selected families through a major blitz event held the last few weeks in April. This event, called their April Rebuilding Event, engages local volunteer and contractor support in a grassroots effort to preserve the community and serve needy homeowners. Rebuilding Together Aurora is currently gearing up for their 2010 April Rebuilding Event and hoping to rehab 32-35 homes. Net proceeds of the concert will go directly for construction materials for this year's blitz event. Tickets for the show are $20 for general admission and $30 for preferred seating. They can be purchased at www.ticketweb.com or by calling the Rebuilding Together Aurora office at (630) 585.7510.
