Aurora Regional Chamber recognized for leadership, innovation, advocacy, member experience and business community support

(AURORA, IL, November 20, 2020) – The Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce, the voice of and catalyst for business success in the Aurora region, has been named the 2020 Outstanding Chamber of the Year in the large chamber category by the Illinois Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (IACCE).

The IACCE Outstanding Chamber of the Year Award recognizes organization excellence in chambers of commerce and provides a unique benchmarking opportunity to assess a chamber’s strengths. The award is based on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s accreditation process for local chambers and highlights accomplishments in the areas of leadership, governance, finance, advocacy and membership development.

"Under the leadership of president & CEO Jessica Linder Gallo, the Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce has thrived, showing that commitment to membership and strong leadership can grow an organization and positively impact its community,” said Ginny Glasner, ACE, 2020 IACCE Chairman of the Board and President & CEO of the Highland Park Chamber of Commerce. “Through a collaborative approach, the organization has implemented notable programs, including a corporate rebrand, launch of several digital initiatives (i.e., blogs, video blogs, soon-to-launch website redesign, etc.), an implications to employers webinar series, several COVID-19 survey reports, and a series of industry roundtables to discuss the impacts of the pandemic in each industry. They have successfully established partnerships, especially their education-workforce collaboration, and continue to develop and model best practices in the chamber industry as evidenced by their continued U.S. Chamber accreditation status that can be replicated around the state.”

This is a huge honor and one for which I am immensely proud. Recognition from IACCE as the 2020 Outstanding Chamber of the Year reinforces our corporate values to always innovate and make big impacts, "said Jessica Linder Gallo, president & CEO. “As the convener of leaders and influencers and the voice of business success, it is our role to lead the business community even in the toughest of times. As we always have, we will continue to rise to any challenge for the good of the Aurora region.”

“Even in the midst of a global pandemic, the Aurora Regional Chamber has performed at an exceptional level and continues to be bold in its vision, strategic plan and leadership,” said Marisa Medgyesi, Earthmover Credit Union & Aurora Regional Chamber Board of Directors Chairperson. “This award recognizes the dedication and hard work put forth by Jessica Linder Gallo and her team to be the unifying force in the Aurora business community.”

The recognition caps off a broader period of innovation and business advocacy for the Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce. This year, the Aurora Regional Chamber launched a new brand and enhanced member tools that bring added functionality aimed at greatly improving access to and visibility of members. The Chamber also released two COVID-19 survey finding reports: the COVID-19 Business Implications Survey Report which built upon the findings from the first survey report, the Business Impact of COVID-19 report, brought to you by Waubonsee Community College. That report analyzed the data from 524 responses from businesses of all sizes, operation tenure and across all industry sectors on challenges they faced as they looked to reopen and operate in the age of COVID-19.
