Chamber Member Wins City of Aurora Alderman At-Large Seat
Tuesday night, April 6, the Chicago Tribune was reporting a tight race and ultimately declared the race for Aurora's Alderman At-Large seat going to Chamber Member Ron Woerman of Spartan Ale House. According to results Tuesday night, Ron had about 36% of the vote while Brooke Shanley held 34% of the vote and Raymond Hull about 30%. Ron joins businessman and economic development leader Sherman Jenkins as the city's second Alderman At-Large. Alderman Jenkins is owner of SLJ Communications, Chair of the Quad County African American Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and long-time Economic Development Director for Aurora.
About Ron Woerman
Ron originally moved to Aurora in 1986. He and his wife Irasema reside in the 1st ward and have been married for 20+ years. They are proud parents of four daughters: Gabriella, Emily, Cheyenne, and Irasema Grace. Ron's professional career has included roles in banking, healthcare, and telecommunications with roles in budgeting, compliance, and accounting. Ron is an entrepreneur with many successful businesses to date and investments throughout the City of Aurora. Ron is currently operator of two restaurants in Aurora: O'Malley's Pub & Eatery and Spartan Ale House.
Ron is a proud supporter of many charitable causes in the community including youth sports, West Aurora A+ Foundation, Aurora East Educational Foundation, Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry, Hesed House and many other community-based programs. Ron is currently a member of the Exchange Club of Aurora and has been a member of the Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce Member since opening Spartan House.
