Mars Wrigley Foundation Contributes $25,000 to Local Coronavirus Relief Fund to Help Vulnerable Children and Families

AURORA, IL, May 20, 2020 – Mars Wrigley Foundation has donated $25,000 to the Fox Valley Coronavirus Relief Fund in an effort to help the most vulnerable members of the community during this unprecedented crisis. The fund, launched by Fox Valley United Way (FVUW) in March, is gathering business and individual contributions to rapidly deploy resources to social service agencies in Kane and Kendall counties that are experiencing a significantly greater demand for services.

With rising unemployment, and with schools and their associated support programs shut down, more and more families need help with food, housing, healthcare and more. The organizations supported by FVUW are seeking expanded assistance—in some cases to meet the needs of three to four times as many people as they served before the pandemic.

Mars Wrigley Foundation answered the call to rally round these organizations. “Mars Wrigley has been a consistent supporter of our community for years,” said Michael Meyer, CEO, FVUW. “Their compassion and generosity know no bounds, and this donation is a testament to their ongoing concern for neighbors in need, despite a difficult economic climate.”

As an organization committed to “giving people opportunities to flourish” around the world, Mars Wrigley values collaboration with FVUW to help meet that goal locally.

"We are so grateful for the work that the Fox Valley United Way does for our community, especially through their Coronavirus Relief Fund during these unprecedented times. Mars Wrigley views the communities where we live and work as true partners, and through our Mars Wrigley Foundation we are proud to make a $25,000 donation to help the United Way’s mission of supporting the basic needs of our community."
