2022 Illinois Election Dates to Know
With the June primary behind us, it's time to start preparing for the Illinois November General Election. 

Date Description
August 10 First day for vote by mail applications
September 29 Early voting begins, vote by mail ballots mailed
October 12 Grace period registration and voting begins
October 23 Last day for online voter registration
November 3 Last day for VBM applications by mail
November 7 Last day of early voting
November 8 General Election Day
 


Three Ways to Cast Your Ballot

Option 1: Vote by Mail September 29 - November 7
  • Apply August 10 – November 3 to request a ballot by mail
  • Receive your ballot in the mail and make your selections
  • Send ballot back to your local election authority in a well-sealed envelope
Vote by mail applications

Option 2: Vote Early September 29 - November 7
Check which locations are open for early voting under your local election authority.
  • Visit the polling place between the following hours to cast your ballot15 days prior to election
    Weekdays – 8:30 am -4:30 pm or 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

    8 days prior to election
    Weekdays – 8:30 am – 7:00 pm or 9:00 am – 7:00 pm
    Saturdays & Holidays – 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
    Sundays – 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
    *These hours of operation apply only to permanent branch polling locations. Check with your local election authority for more specific times/locations for your area.
Option 3: Election Day November 8
Polling places open from 6:00 am – 7:00 pm.
