Job Summary
Responsible for all finance and accounting-related activities of our non-profit organization; serves as financial advisor to CEO, providing financial analysis, budget control, multiple grant management, and operational direction; oversee all fiscal, payroll, risk management and compliance requirements of agency.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement and oversee all financial operations to ensure quality and to see that financial regulations are met.
- Manage financial resources and conduct resource planning for future needs
- Ensure that agency financial management procedures align with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and all other regulatory guidelines as they apply to funding sources, grants, and applicable laws
- Project revenue and expenses and develop budget models to guide staffing and program development
- Supervise finance department staff
- Monitor inventory of agency equipment
- Prepare budgets and fiscal reports for funders
- Communicate with staff on finance related issues when appropriate
- Prepare and monitor payroll
- Work closely with the agency CEO and Advancement staff to ensure a financial strategy that is in line with the agency’s capital campaign and building program
- Responsible for grant reporting management for capital campaign
- Attend all finance committee meetings and board meetings
- Develop and manage systems to track performance against budget, restricted funds, and provide analysis and reporting to CEO, Finance Committee, Board of Directors and funders while ensuring integrity and accuracy of the financial information
- Provide analysis and prepare reports throughout the year to track actual expenses and revenues relative to budget.
- Provide leadership and direction in operational matters including facility management issues that are affected by the agency’s financial situation which includes insurance claims, major repairs, etc.
- Prepare tax Form 990 with the auditors
- Responsible for agency’s policies and procedures related to finance, accounting, investment, and cash management
- Keep up to date on best practices in financial management for public foundations and nonprofits, including changing accounting, regulatory, audit and tax standards.
- Provide regular financial reporting to the CEO
- Responsible for daily financial transactions, fund accounting, audits, budget development and oversight, monthly financial reports, and the design and implementation of internal controls.
- Manage the financial aspects of benefit plans including insurance and 403B plan
- Provide ongoing analytical and project management support as needed
- Prepare fiscal documents for ICASA and ICADV audit/site visits
- Design and manage systems, policies and processes that provide for accurate, transparent and timely financial reporting
- Assist CEO with cash management, cash flow forecasting, oversight of bank balances, CD maturity dates, liquidity planning, and investing
- Prepare financial reports and documents as needed to support fund development and management of grants, including the tracking and reporting of restricted funds.
- Translate department objectives into financial assumptions for short-term and/or long-term planning
- Other duties as assigned by CEO
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Experience in nonprofit accounting, business, and financial management, and a proven record of managing grants from multiple sources
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, and have strong writing and communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal relationship skills and ability to maintain professional boundaries
- Maintain all aspects of agency confidentiality policy at all times
- Working knowledge of all statutory, regulatory, or other financial requirements of multi-funded grants to ensure that general accepted principles of accounting are applied, and that financial standards and procedures that meet the funding agency’s financial policy standards and grant conditions are met.
- Able to produce high quality work, set priorities and meet deadlines
- Perform all job functions with a high standard of integrity and ethics
- 60-Hour Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Training Certificate (can be completed after hire)
- Possess in depth knowledge of financial spreadsheet and database applications related to budgeting, payroll and other functions
- Ability to utilize standard office equipment (telephone/copier/computer)

- Experience in DCEO budget management a plus
