WORKING AT TRICITYFAMILY SERVICES: TriCity Family Services (TCFS) is a 501c3 non-profit community mental health center serving central and southern Kane County Illinois. TCFS has two offices (Geneva and St. Charles) and offers a hybrid work schedule. JOB OBJECTIVES: Working as a member of the agency's clinical staff team, the Mental Health Therapist: 1) provides a range of pre-treatment clinical services, including intakes, screening, triage, referral and linkage, as well as crisis intervention services and counseling services to agency clients; and 2) offers psychoeducational programs and services to targeted groups and the community at-large.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides assessment, linkage, and referral services to both prospective and current agency clients, including Family-Based Treatment for Eating Disorders program clients as appropriate
- Conducts diagnostic assessments and prepares written summaries
- Provides counseling services to individuals, families and groups
- Provides crisis intervention, stabilization and case management services to at-risk youth and their families
- In consultation with the Director of Emotional Wellness Program, Development Team, Clinical Director and Manager of the Employee Assistance Program, participates in providing presentations to the community
- Participates in networking efforts with other area service providers
- At a minimum meets bi-weekly with the Clinical Director for supervision
- Attends weekly staff meetings
- Participates in training and staff development events and activities
- Provides clinical and statistical documentation as required
- Will meet expected direct service hours and maintain case record compliance
- Performs other duties as required.
EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERTISE:
- Master's degree in a mental health discipline or related field from a clinical program at an accredited school.
- LSW/LCSW, LPC/LCPC, AMFT/LMFT Preferred
- Sensitivity to, and respect for, cultural differences
- Good knowledge of the behavioral dynamics of individuals and groups
- Working knowledge of DSM V TR
- Good knowledge of the theory and techniques of mental health assessment, crisis intervention and counseling
- Basic knowledge of community resources
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS RELATED TO WORKING CONDITIONS:
The employee in this position must have his/her own transportation as a portion of the work may occur at other agencies and in clients' homes.
